Wonderful Life: Crafty Cardmakers

Hello Friends!!
Today, I am going to share a mixed media canvas, this time for the monthly challenge over at Crafty CardmakersAs the theme for current challenge #209 is Water, so I decided to alter an old mdf piece by using some easily available waste material, to go with the theme and made this mixed media mini canvas.

This month challenge is hosting by our so talented team mate  Josephine
You can enter anything is fine, a card, scrapbook layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Water theme.
Hope you will join us at our amazing challenge.

Here is my project:

Friends, here, I am sharing an easy and quick step by step tutorial for making this Mixed Media Canvas "Wonderful Life":

Step 1: Select a canvas or mdf place mate of your choice, cover it with a cotton fabric and create some textures by shrinking fabric in the lower part of the canvas. Now add some easily available waste items like Pistachio shells to create more dramatic background. These pistachio shells will give the perfect look of stones on canvas. Let it dry and then cover it with white gesso or home made texture paste and let it dry.
Step 2: Now spray Lindy's Starburst spray- Sassy Sapphire over half of the canvas and add some Mont Marte white acrylic paints to create some sea theme background.
Step 3: Now spray some Lindy's Starburst spray- Drop Dead Gorgeous Green on the part which consists pistachio shells and give some algal look to the background by adding some more green and brown shades of  Mont Marte acrylic paints. Let it dry completely by using heat gun.
Step 4: Add some textures to the canvas through a stencil and dry it completely.
Step 5: Then use some embellishments like foliage, leaf die cuts, some colored cheese cloth pieces, some dried natural elements and more.
Step 6: Make this canvas more realistic using some sea shell embellishments. Remember to use some more strong glue to stick these embellishments like Prima's Heavy Body Gel/ Gloss gel or any other easily available and affordable strong adhesive.
Step 7: For final finish add a sentiment using Tim Holtz idea-Ology - Metallic Stickers.
